Beautiful eyebrows restored!
Restoring eyebrows is the inevitable next step to hair restoration of the scalp. The same state-of-the-art follicular unit technology is used for both procedures and the results are equally natural and virtually undetectable as the transplanted hair blends right into the existing brow. Treating permanent hair loss in the brow area has a proven solution -- the Bosley art and science of hair restoration. Eyebrow restoration is therefore nothing new, but it is something quite exciting as a cosmetic enhancement option, and the demand for this service is growing rapidly as the benefits become more widely known.
At Bosley, the surgical transplantation of hair follicles is a remarkably simple outpatient procedure.
Why hair transplantation works
Of course your approval of our strategy for your hair is an absolute must and will be your doctor's central guide in tailoring your new hairline. Please be advised that individual hair transplant results may vary.
The medical process for hair restoration involves the transplanting of hairs and follicles from one area of the head to another.
During the hair transplant procedure, grafts are placed ONE AT A TIME in the thinning and balding areas. Bosley physicians are trained to artistically perform this procedure in a manner that results in virtually undetectable natural-looking restored hairlines and natural density.

Women have resorted to tattoos (micro-pigmentation or "permanent make-up"), which are highly visible and unnatural. Tattoos will not, however, interfere with one's ability to have eyebrow transplantation. Women have also explored camouflage make-up with varying success. Close up, heavy make-up can be unsightly and is not long-lasting or waterproof. Applying false eyebrows with adhesive is a high-maintenance alternative.
Permanent hair loss of the eyebrow can stem from many causes. One of the most common for women is over-plucking. As trends changes, so does the shape and thickness of the brow and women are often caught in fashion limbo as they struggle to regain what they once sought to lose. Pencil thin brows have been replaced by the more substantial look associated with today's runway models and entertainment celebrities. But how to get them?
For some men and women, eyebrow hair loss may actually be genetic. You may be born with no brows, very light brows, or patchy brows. Patchiness can be unsettling when it affects only one side of the face and can make one feel self-conscious.
In addition, eyebrow hair loss may result from skin conditions, burns, scarring, or other trauma to the area. In all these cases, restoration of the lost or missing hair is a viable option for most people, with excellent results possible under the hands of an experienced and skilled hair restoration physician. In fact, it is the only permanent natural way to replace hair loss in the eyebrow region.
Eyebrows are the frame for the eyes and it is well known that the brows are the most expressive facial feature. They non-verbally indicate a gamut of emotions from surprise to disapproval, to joy or sorrow. The impact on personality is inescapable. The ability to enhance facial animation while improving appearance is the gift of the science of hair restoration. Beyond technology, at Bosley the priority is on aesthetic results and a natural contour. Each and every patient is given a personalized treatment plan based on his or her facial structure, individual features and hair characteristics, including natural growth patterns. The plan is designed by your physician to conform to you personal goals. It is best described as a joint collaboration between you and your doctor during your private consultation. The doctor will make recommendations as to shape, angle, and density. Approval of your eyebrow plan is yours and your doctor's alone.
Eyebrow restoration is a simple surgical outpatient procedure done in a Bosley Surgical Office (Bosley physicians are only available at our Regional Surgical Offices). During an approximate two-hour long procedure, the physician draws the brows carefully, maintaining appropriate anatomical position and symmetry. (You will have the opportunity to view the design and provide feedback before proceeding.). A small strip of hair-bearing skin is removed from a "donor area" at the back or side of the head that matches as closely as possible your eyebrow hair. The individual follicles are microscopically separated and prepared for insertion into tiny "recipient sites" in the brow area. Single hair grafts work well in the delicate brow area, so the precision of placement is critical. Bosley physicians pride themselves on the highly developed skills they have acquired performing hair restoration and apply these skills to the meticulous and exact placement of each and every graft in terms of the correct direction of the hair and the correct angle. Attention is paid to the creation of a pleasing rise of the arch or the enhancement of the existing arch. Your desired density may require more than one procedure. Generally, 50-250 grafts are placed in each brow.
After the procedure, patients usually experience little or no discomfort and may leave the office with our special Bosley sunglasses. The great majority of Bosley patients are comfortable during and after the procedure, and many return to work the next day. The tiny crusts that form after surgery fall off in about ten days. After that time, no evidence of the procedure is apparent as the transplanted follicles go into a dormant period of about three months. When the hair begins to grow, you will watch with amazement as your brows fill in. Because it is transplanted hair, it will grow at the same rate as the hair on your scalp, and regular trimming and care will be necessary to maintain your brows and keep them looking their best. You may straighten the hairs, pluck them, wax them, dye them, and cut them to the desired length-they are your own living, growing hairs! Most hair salons provide this service.
